Hi, I'm Tamara — the heart behind Twisted by Tamara. I learned to crochet when I was about 9 or 10, sitting next to my grandma with a hook in hand and a head full of curiosity. I was instantly hooked (pun fully intended) by the colors, textures, and endless possibilities yarn had to offer. Whether it was a cozy scarf, a vibrant wall hanging, or a quirky little pouch, the idea that you could make something out of string fascinated me. My deep love for fiber came later in life, but it hit hard. Spinning started as something that seemed almost too big to try — until I did it. It turns out, I was a natural. Taking roving and a mix of fibers and colors, then turning it into my own handspun yarn, filled me with joy and a huge sense of accomplishment. There’s nothing quite like watching raw wool transform under your fingers. I started Twisted by Tamara to spread the fiber word. I never want to see fiber arts fade away. Crocheting, knitting, spinning, and creating calms my anxiety, feeds my soul, and sparks pure joy — and I want others to experience that too. This community of makers is one of generosity, creativity, and connection. We share tips, triumphs, and even the "oops" moments. Handmade yarn isn’t perfect — and that’s the magic of it.
